Applications are now open for the 7th Catalyst Cohort, a business growth program for under-resourced entrepreneurs. Since 2020, Catalyst Cohorts have nurtured more than 60 entrepreneurs ready to take their businesses to the next level. Applications for this round will be accepted from August 24 through September 25, 2026.
Catalyst Cohorts pair entrepreneurs with a peer advisory group, one-on-one coaching, and connections to resources. They also receive expert guidance on topics ranging from business strategy and financial management to leadership, operations, and marketing. Sessions are designed to give participants hands-on tools and real accountability as they work on, not just in, their business.
“Joining a Catalyst Cohort gives entrepreneurs an immersive experience to build the foundations and long-term strategies their businesses need. And they get to do it in a room full of people who share similar experiences,” said Lucious Wilson, Catalyst Program Director at Mountain BizWorks. “It’s a chance to step back from the day-to-day, gain individualized support, and walk away with a clearer entrepreneurial mindset ready for growth.”
The program is open to existing, under-resourced small business owners across Western North Carolina whose businesses show strong potential for growth and job creation. The program particularly seeks to serve those navigating barriers like geographic isolation, economic hardship, language access, or educational gaps. Thanks to funder support, there is no cost for those selected to participate.
The new cohort will hold its orientation and meet-and-greet on October 21, 2026. Then, the program will meet every other week through March 2027. Interested entrepreneurs can apply online at mountainbizworks.org/catalyst-cohort August 24 through September 25, 2026.
