Every year, Mountain BizWorks honors a coach who carries forward the spirit of Jane Renfroe in coaching excellence and compassion. This year, that honor goes to Trevor Baker.
About the Award
Mountain BizWorks began the Jane Renfroe Coach of the Year award to honor the memory of Jane Renfroe, who served as a coach and facilitator at Mountain BizWorks for nearly a decade. Between 2006-2016, she taught more than 1,000 aspiring and existing entrepreneurs through our Foundations Course.
A potter and metalsmith from Madison County and a professor, she took special delight in helping students turn their passions into businesses like she had. She had a rare gift for helping people see their own worth and empowering them to believe in the value of their work. She passed away in October 2017. Today, she is remembered for her business knowledge and compassion for the needs of others. These are qualities this award celebrates each year.
This Year’s Recipient
With over two decades of leadership experience, Trevor brings a great combination of entrepreneurial drive and expertise to his coaching. He co-founded Noble Cider, growing it from a scrappy startup into a recognized regional brand, leading strategy, operations, and branding.
His career spans other industries, too, reflecting an adaptability that could help many types of business owners. He brings certifications in Six Sigma, supply chain management, and environmental inspection to his work. He has also served as a board officer and committee chair for the American Cider Association.
Annie Woods, Mountain BizWorks Business Coaching Manager, shared, “Trevor was an obvious choice for this year’s Jane Renfroe Award. His enthusiasm, can-do attitude, and ability to move clients forward, especially on the financial side, make him an exceptional coach. Add in his vast expertise across everything from real estate to DJing, he’s truly become our Swiss Army knife. We’re so grateful for his time, talent, and heart.”
As a business coach, he thrives on streamlining processes and guiding people through big business decisions. Right now, Trevor is actively coaching 16 projects, each representing an entrepreneur working toward their dreams. In addition to coaching, he’s now more closely following in Jane Renfroe’s footsteps teaching Foundations Courses.
Congratulations to Trevor! And thanks to all our coaches for their work guiding entrepreneurs with passion and care.
