Learn how to use QuickBooks for your small business with Jeff Weathers, a certified Advanced QuickBooks ProAdvisor.
Session 1: Overview of the QuickBooks line of products (Online, Pro, Premier, and Enterprise) to determine which product is best for your business. Detailed training will be given on the QuickBooks desktop product, including: setting up a company file and chart of accounts, navigating the home page, setting up your products and services, and using QuickBooks lists and forms to record sales and manage expenses.
Session 2: An expansion on what was covered in the previous session with class participation strongly encouraged to discuss particular needs and more complex transactions that may be encountered, including: receiving payments and paying bills, managing accounts receivable and accounts payable, reconciling bank and credit card accounts, and how to generate and understand the two main financial reports (Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet).
Session 3: This class pulls together information from the previous sessions, sharing how to use classes, customize and use reports, and create financial statements to analyze your business.
Session 4: Preparing payroll in any small business can be a daunting task. This session will begin with an introduction to payroll and taxes and what it means to “do payroll.” It will also cover how to prepare for the payroll process by finding the information needed on the Internal Revenue Service, NCDOR, and Employment Security websites, from the details of complying with withholding requirements for taxes to the process of applying for an employer identification number and other state identification numbers. Then, it will touch on all aspects of how to set up, maintain, and process payroll for your employees.
Cost is $150 to attend. Limited scholarships are available for Mountain BizWorks clients, making the course free; contact Rebekah Wallace at moriah@mountainbizworks.org or (828) 253-2834 x10 for details.
